Avatar of Martijn

I’m Martijn and I make things.

I have 15 years of experience in lead product roles and lean software and product development. I help startups and other organizations create new digital products following the lean startup methodology.

I built microservices, monoliths, web apps and native apps for many companies serving millions of users. From scratch.

These all have a little Ff00ff inside. 💪 No real <marquee> element was used during the making of this site. A nostalgic effect—but not the best, user-experience-wise.

My role

I’m at my best leading development teams creating new products. I follow the lean startup development methodology. I’m pragmatic, customer-focused, value-driven and full of ideas.

Don't Lose Your Lean

Lean software development can be really counter-intuitive compared to traditional, more risk-averse, software development. When not embracing lean software development, your speed of innovation is still too slow, and you still spend weeks or even months developing experiments or MVPs.

Together with ABN AMRO I developed a workshop to help developers embrace lean software development and increase their experimentation velocity dramatically. Reach out if this may be interesting for your organization.

Jottum

I'm a writer of an interactive children's book exclusively for iPad OS. I created the app together with my daughter.

Wordclock

I built and developed an easily readable clock, "wordclock", using a Raspberry Pi, many lights and a lot of soldering.

Smart home

I am a smart home fanatic. I created my own smart mirrors, smartified my DUCO mechanical ventilation and integrated my Forest curtains in Apple HomeKit via HomeBridge.

Mammoth

Mammoth is an open-source TypeScript query builder. It’s type-safe so you make fewer errors. It’s sticking as close to Postgres as possible, because we don’t need another abstraction. Also read A new TypeScript Postgres query-builder.

Technology

Nowadays, I mostly write Node.js and TypeScript, but I have experience with a lot of technologies. I have a proven track record of being able to quickly familiarize other stacks such as Java and C#.

Some keywords: Node.js, TypeScript, React, Postgres, SQL, AWS, CloudFormation, SQS, Kinesis, Elastic Search, MongoDB, Redis, RabbitMQ, Java, Axon, React Native, Swift and Objective-C.

You can reach out if you want to talk about your project and learn about my availability.
